Position Overview :

Our client is seeking a BAS  H ardware Designer to join their growing engineering team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing hardware solutions for building automation and control systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure that system designs meet project specifications, performance goals, and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities :

Design and develop control panels and wiring diagrams for BAS projects, ensuring compliance with NEC and UL standards.

Select and specify appropriate hardware components such as controllers, sensors, power supplies, relays, and network devices.

Create hardware submittals, BOMs (Bills of Materials), and installation documentation for construction and field teams.

Collaborate with software engineers, project managers, and field technicians to ensure seamless integration of hardware and software.

Perform hardware troubleshooting, component selection, and system testing as needed during project commissioning.

Ensure designs meet project budgets, timelines, and customer specifications.

Stay up to date on industry standards, codes, and emerging hardware technologies relevant to building automation and IoT.

Qualifications :

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).

3+ years of experience designing hardware for BAS, HVAC controls, industrial automation, or related systems.

Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar CAD software) for creating wiring diagrams and panel layouts.

Strong understanding of control system components, power distribution, and network communications (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks, etc.).

Familiarity with UL508A, NEC, and other applicable codes and standards.

Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.

Strong written and verbal communication abilities.

Preferred Qualifications :

Experience working with leading BAS platforms (e.g., Johnson Controls, Honeywell, Siemens, Schneider Electric, Distech, Tridium Niagara).

Knowledge of energy management principles and smart building technologies.

Field commissioning experience is a plus.
