Summary

The Emergency Medical Technician provides critical medical care to individuals experiencing accidents, sudden illnesses, or other emergencies, delivering pre-hospital and intra-hospital advanced life support from the onset of care until transfer to a medical facility.

Key Responsibilities :

• Represent the ambulance service at community events and provide standby services when necessary.
• Document patient assessments and treatments accurately in care charting software.
• Provide care for patients in psychiatric, medical, and traumatic crises by employing medical and therapeutic interventions.
• Work cohesively as part of a two-member ambulance crew, responding to both emergency and non-emergency calls.
• Utilize advanced life support equipment, including bag valve masks and defibrillators.
• Evaluate injuries or illnesses to determine appropriate medical procedures for stabilization and safe patient transportation.
• Drive emergency vehicles in a safe and controlled manner, responding to dispatcher instructions.
• Administer medications under physician guidance through various routes as needed.
• Communicate effectively with medical personnel at treatment facilities for thorough patient handover.
• Ensure cleanliness and decontamination of the ambulance following patient transport.

Physical Demands :

Ability to lift over 50 lbs, push / pull up to 140 lbs, and carry up to 80 lbs short distances. Requires frequent standing, walking, squatting, kneeling, crawling, climbing, and reaching overhead.
