Job Summary

The Associate Dean for University College provides strategic leadership for student support units and visionary assistance for the development and execution of comprehensive academic success strategies to advance student achievement and retention in alignment with the institution¿s mission. Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and supervision to Academic Coaching, Supplemental Instruction, and Tutoring Services that will align with the institution¿s mission and student success priorities. Oversee the development, design and implementation of innovative programs to improve academic student engagement, academic performance and retention across disciplines. Assess academic success barriers and tailor support services to meet identified student needs.
  • Collaborate with the Dean to conceptualize and implement innovative ideas that support strategic planning, organizational development, college-wide priorities, and other duties as assigned.
  • Engage with Directors to review and analyze data related to the effectiveness of units in the College to measure student engagement, academic progress, and retention. Prepare and present reports to the Dean of University College / AVP for Academic Affairs, highlighting key performance indicators, trends, and actionable insights.
  • Foster partnerships with academic departments and colleges, student engagement and success, campus partners, and community organizations to enhance program impact.
  • Manage the review and completion of 4th Grade Attempt requests for students on the Dahlonega and Gainesville campuses and ensure compliance with academic policies and institutional procedures.
  • Represent University College at internal events, such as orientations, Nighthawk Preview Days, meetings, and external events. Coordinate the marketing and communication strategy for University College and travel to all five campuses as necessary.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of academic support technology and platforms (e.g., learning management systems, scheduling software).
  • Knowledge of Banner.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Understanding of student learning theory, best practices in tutoring, supplemental instruction, academic coaching, and / or student and academic success.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff.
  • Data-informed decision-making abilities with a strong focus on student success and program assessment.
  • Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate is required.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in academic student success and / or student success.
  • Experience managing teams and developing and implementing academic support programs.
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional, scholarly, and educational accomplishments commensurate for tenure-track eligibility or appointment as a tenured associate or full professor in a department / college at the University of North Georgia is preferred.
  • Experience working in higher education is highly desirable.
