Grow Public Schools (GPS), founded by the Grimm Family Education Foundation opened its doors in August 2011. Located in Arvin, California, Grow Academy is an independent public charter school where health and wellness is at the center of student success. Grow Academy implements a rigorous blended learning model where students actively engage in a unique, diversified learning environment in our Learning Lab, music program, physical education, and Edible Schoolyard (ESY) program.

In 2016, Grow Public Schools (GPS), formerly Grimmway Schools, was established as the Charter Management Organization (CMO) responsible for support and management of the academies. Today, GPS is redefining academic excellence in Kern County as a multi-campus charter school operator. GPS operates Grow Academy (GA) Arvin, and GA Shafter, both TK-8 schools with over 800 students. We hold high expectations for our students, parents, teachers, and staff to ensure a supportive and successful learning environment to close the opportunity gap in some of the highest need communities in California.

Job Summary : The Afterschool PE Facilitator is responsible for organizing and facilitating a robust sports and physical education program within the afterschool program. This includes creating seasonal sports schedules, coordinating coaching staff, and overseeing skill-building camps that align with Grow Public Schools' mission to foster scholar growth and well-being. The ideal candidate is committed to scholar achievement, capable of managing sports activities, and embodies the values of Grow Public Schools.

Duties and Responsibilities will include :

• Develops and manages sports schedules for each season, coordinating with the league representative and ensuring adequate coaching support for all sports activities.
• Plans and organizes enrichment and skills camps during afterschool and intersession times, aligned with the afterschool programs goals and schedule under the direction of the ELOP Manager.
• Ensures a safe and inclusive environment for all scholars, promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development across a range of physical activities.
• Assists in the recruitment and onboarding of coaches for various sports seasons, providing guidance and support to ensure alignment with program expectations.
• Provides guidance and support for scholars to build both physical skills and social-emotional competencies.
• Assists with enrichment programming for afterschool and intersession, organizing activities that align with educational and recreational goals for scholars from Transitional kindergarten through 8th grade.
• Mentor and guide new and current afterschool staff by sharing best practices in student engagement by helping them acclimate to the expectations of their role.
• Serve as a program resource for peers and communicate staff needs or observations to the ELOP Manager
• Acts as site leader in the absence of the ELOP Manager and Lead Afterschool Activity Leader
• Support behavior management across the program and assist peers in implementing the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
• Collaborates in the development of minimum day recreational and educational activities.
• Facilitates minimum day recreational and educational activities for universal pre-kindergarten through 8th grade students
• Supervises Saturday Enrichment Academy activities and trips
• Participates actively in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in physical education and youth development.
• Maintains a clean, orderly, and engaging physical education environment.
• Performs additional duties as assigned by the ELOP Manager or Administrative Team.

The employee must have the ability to communicate information and ideas so others will understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. The employee is occasionally required to push, move, lift or otherwise bear up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision. Specific hearing abilities are required by this job.

Work Environment : This position is in-person, in instructional facilities located in Kern County. Some travel is required to other work sites.
