GENERAL PURPOSE
Under the administrative supervision of the Assistant Program Director or Program Director, this position is responsible for providing individual and group therapy to members to support their therapeutic process.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
This is an at-will direct service position within a program. The position is responsible for providing direct psychiatric services to members in an interdisciplinary setting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - (ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY)

- Provides all medical / psychiatric services in accordance with policies, procedures, and direction established under the contract and related governing bodies.
- In coordination with other psychiatrists and medical staff, assures that members and residents receive appropriate and timely evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, medical screening and medical / psychiatric evaluation whenever indicated, and that all medical / psychiatric care is appropriately documented in the medical record.
- Provides consultation as needed as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Completes progress notes daily and according to the submission guidelines required by the program.
- May provide injections.
- May participate in County Medication Monitoring Review meetings on a monthly basis.
- May participate in the development, approval and review of all policies, procedures and protocols that govern clinical care.
- Provides "on-the-spot" counseling that is both helpful to the members and consistent with the philosophy of the program.
- Travels between sites for the purpose of attending clinical meetings or providing training.
- Drives on agency business using personal vehicle.
- Maintains clean driving record as well as currency of driver's license and vehicle insurance / registration.
- Maintain valid malpractice liability coverage.
- Adheres to and uphold the policies and procedures of Turning Point Community Programs.
- Meets the standards set for performance in all aspects of job duties.
- Meets the standard for consistent attendance (not more than a 5% absence rate per month) by reporting to every scheduled shift on time and ready to work and by the judicious use of paid sick leave and avoiding any situations resulting in the need to dock pay for time not worked.
Schedule : Monday-Friday, 8 : 30 AM - 5 : 00 PM
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS & LICENSES
Education, Training and Experience :
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is through receiving a medical license verifiable through CA Board of Medicine and Board Certified in Psychiatry; completion of four (4) year residency program in psychiatry; additional two (2) years post-graduate experience in community mental health providing direct patient treatment / care is preferred.
