Program Manager, Robotics Surgical Technology

Join Medtronic as a Program Manager in our Robotics Surgical Technology (RST) Project Management Office (PMO). In this pivotal role, you'll lead cross-functional engineering teams through our Product Development Process, delivering new technologies and therapies to our customers. This person will ensure that his / her / their program teams are : efficient, effective, and well-coordinated; focused on clear priorities, milestones, and goals; committed to developing and adhering to schedules; vigilant in managing budgets, including labor resources; and dedicated to delivering quality commercial releases in compliance with established processes.

The Product Development Program Manager is responsible for :

  • Leading cross-functional teams to evaluate, develop, and manage projects focused on adding new Instruments, Indications, and Technologies to our surgical robotics platform, HugoTM.
  • Developing and monitoring schedules, plans, tasks, and priorities, ensuring a streamlined workflow.
  • Driving problem-solving sessions, maintaining a sense of urgency and holding team members accountable to commitments.
  • Anticipating and mitigating risks, balancing time, schedule, cost, and quality, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards.
  • Managing project financials, including forecasting and tracking of accruals and actuals.
  • Cultivating a broad understanding of Medtronic's Surgical Robotics and Instrumentation, leveraging this knowledge to drive project success.

Minimum requirements :

  • Bachelors degree required (Engineering, Computer Science, or related scientific discipline)
  • Minimum of 5 years of project management experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of project management experience
  • Differentiating factors :

  • PMP Certification, SAFe Certification, or other project management credentials
  • Knowledge in product development, project management, and commercialization in the medical device industry, including compliance to FDA, MDR, and other regulatory agency requirements
  • Experience with developing and commercializing large capital medical devices (e.g. Robotic systems, Imaging equipment, etc.) that include software.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing within a matrixed organization, leading cross-functional discussions and driving towards decisions and clear actions.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; builds trusting relationships with team members and key leadership stakeholders
  • Ability to manage multiple projects at once while understanding cultural differences between various regions of the world
  • High degree of competency in Microsoft Office Suite (Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Word)
  • Experience with advanced scheduling and resource management tools like Prochain and Resource First
  • Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned :

  • Leads or leverages cross functional teams to evaluate, develop and manage projects for new product development and ongoing lifecycle management of products, processes and therapies.
  • Oversees and manages the operational aspects of ongoing projects and serves as liaison between project management and planning, project team, and line management.
  • Manages the development and implementation process of a company's products and services involving departmental or cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new or existing products and processes.
  • Reviews status of projects and budgets; manages schedules and prepares status reports.
  • Monitors the project from initiation through delivery.
  • Assesses project issues and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and client-satisfaction goals and objectives.
  • Develops mechanisms for monitoring project progress and for intervention and problem solving with project managers, line managers, and clients.
  • Gathers requirements, works on requirements planning, requirements elicitation and requirements management to ensure they meet demands of project's key stakeholders.
  • Communicates with stakeholders, obtains stakeholder engagement to ensure the end products or processes will solve the business problems.

    Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD) : $136,000.00 - $204,000.00 This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP). The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification / education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week : Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance / reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program). The following benefits and additional compensation are available to all regular employees : Incentive plans, 401(k) plan plus employer contribution and match, Short-term disability, Paid time off, Paid holidays, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, Employee Assistance Program, Non-qualified Retirement Plan Supplement (subject to IRS earning minimums), and Capital Accumulation Plan (available to Vice Presidents and above, or subject to IRS earning minimums). Regular employees are those who are not temporary, such as interns. Temporary employees are eligible for paid sick time, as required under applicable state law, and the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
