Anika Systems is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer to support a federal contract in the Washington, DC area. The selected candidate will contribute to the success of a cross-functional IT communications team, supporting efforts across enterprise architecture and IT governance initiatives. This role is responsible for producing a wide range of documentation including system and process documentation, technical guides, developer-facing resources, and user support materials.

This position is partly on-site in the Washington, DC area.  Candidates must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a government suitability clearance.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Manage the full lifecycle of operating systems for servers, PCs, Macs, scanners, and printers.
  • Oversee preventive maintenance contracts for application software and hardware assets.
  • Ensure compliance with hardware and software security policies.
  • Collaborate with the help desk team to diagnose and resolve customer technical issues.
  • Work with vendors to coordinate hardware / software support, maintenance, upgrades, and documentation.
  • Stay informed on vendor procedures and upcoming upgrades that may impact current systems.

Legacy System Modernization Support :

  • Inventory legacy business applications and associated databases on standalone systems.
  • Perform ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processing, including data cleansing and transformation.
  • Support data migration efforts to platforms such as Salesforce or Oracle applications.
  • Manage and support the decommissioning of legacy applications and underlying databases.
  • Develop and implement data archiving strategies using Adobe tools and Apple Macintosh systems, ensuring proper file naming conventions and compliance.
  • Qualifications & Skills :

  • Experience in IT systems administration, technical support, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in Oracle Developer Suite 11g, SQL
  • Plus 11g, and TOAD (Tools for Oracle Application Developers).
  • Familiarity with Erwin Data Modeler for database modeling and documentation.
  • Strong knowledge of ETL processing, data transformation, and data archiving techniques.
  • Experience with Salesforce data integration and Oracle-based application environments.
  • Strong knowledge of operating systems, hardware, and enterprise software across both Windows and Apple environments.
  • Experience working in Apple Macintosh environments for technical data handling, archiving, and documentation support.
  • Understanding and application of naming conventions for modernization and legacy system decommissioning.
  • Ability to work effectively with vendors to manage support and upgrade processes.
  • Familiarity with IT security compliance standards and best practices.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
