POSITION SUMMARY : As an Operating Room Registered Nurse, you will utilize the nursing process to provide exceptional patient-centered care. You will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to coordinate patient care, effectively communicate clinical conditions, and respond swiftly to changes in patient status.

EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION : You must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program and possess a valid Registered Nurse license in the State of Connecticut. Certification in Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) is required upon hire.

EXPERIENCE : Previous experience in surgical or labor and delivery environments, specifically assisting with C-sections, is required.

COMPETENCIES : Strong communication skills in English (both verbal and written) and basic computer proficiency are essential.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and re-assessments of patients' conditions and care needs.
  • Collaborate with the surgical team to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans.
  • Ensure medication safety by following the five medication rights and demonstrating knowledge of medications.
  • Provide patient care in a manner that ensures safety and positive outcomes, adhering to protocols for patient identification and surgical procedures.
  • Document all care processes and patient responses in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Exhibit flexibility and organizational skills, effectively managing stress and prioritizing tasks.
  • Pursue ongoing personal and professional development and serve as a role model and mentor.
  • Ensure accurate communication regarding patient condition for safe transfers of care.
  • Prepare the surgical environment with necessary instruments and assist the team in maintaining aseptic technique.
  • Effectively communicate critical information to the surgical team regarding counts of sponges, needles, and instruments.
  • Handle specimens properly and function effectively in the scrub role.
