The State Water Resources Control Board’s Division of Water Quality has an opening for a Research Data Specialist II to join a dynamic team environment in the Recycled Water and Desalination Unit. We are seeking a talented data scientist with strong critical thinking skills to support the team in protecting water quality consistent with the State Water Board’s direction and mission.
You will lead data-driven efforts to advance the use of recycled water statewide for all Californians while ensuring water quality is protected. You will support implementation of the Water Quality Control Policy for Recycled Water, which is a statewide policy to streamline the permitting of recycled water projects in a manner that protects the environment and public health as one piece of a broader strategy to mitigate the effects of long-term drought, climate change, and water supply uncertainty. You will serve as a resource to the unit for statistical analysis, data science, and quality assurance.

This is a hybrid position. The office is located at 1001 I Street, 15th Floor, Sacramento, right in the heart of downtown next to light rail stations and other public transportation. Occasional travel is required.

Salary information – CalHR salary rules allow appointment at the entrance rate (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 2, § 599.673) of a classification. For classes with alternate ranges, placement is based on education / experience.
