About the Role

The Accounting Compliance Consultant will play a key role in supporting the company’s compliance functions across multiple jurisdictions. This position involves managing state and local tax submissions, overseeing business license registrations, and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements during business expansion and restructuring. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, evolving environment and brings strong organizational and communication skills to a detail-oriented role.

Key Responsibilities

Research and determine required tax submissions for specific business segments and new acquisitions to ensure timely and accurate compliance.

Track and maintain active business license registrations, filings, and renewals, addressing related inquiries as needed.

Communicate with municipal and state agencies to resolve compliance and regulatory issues.

Support regulatory adherence during the launch of new locations or when organizational changes occur.

Gather and organize data for the completion and submission of property tax statements.

Assist with local and state audits, providing documentation and support as required.

Contribute to tax and compliance process improvements and system enhancements.

Perform additional compliance and administrative duties as needed to support the team’s objectives.

Qualifications

Required :

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

3+ years of experience in tax, compliance, or related functions (state and local compliance preferred).

Proven experience with municipal and business license compliance.

Proficiency with large ERP systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, or similar).

Experience managing insurance renewals, certificates of insurance (COIs), and related filings.

Familiarity with contracting and registration tasks (EINs, customer forms, etc.).

Strong attention to detail, ownership of projects, and ability to manage multiple deadlines.

Team-oriented mindset with strong research and problem-solving abilities.

Advanced Excel skills and experience managing complex reports.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred :

CPA certification (or progress toward certification) is a plus.

Familiarity with local and state tax processes, even outside of a direct tax accounting role.

Experience developing or restructuring compliance and tax systems.

Ability to identify and close compliance gaps.

Comfortable operating in dynamic and rapidly changing environments.
