About the Role :

We're looking for a Field CTO to join our team and be the strategic and technical face of Tray in the field. You'll work directly with prospects and customers to drive adoption of Tray's platform, optimize our customers' success, and influence the direction of our product in a rapidly evolving market. You are a visionary trusted by CIOs, a closer in the room for strategic deals, and a storyteller who makes Agent and Automation magic feel inevitable.

As Field CTO, you will inspire confidence in senior decision-makers by establishing Tray as the go-to enterprise solution for Automation and AI capabilities. You'll join high-stakes sales conversations as a senior executive presence to validate architecture, security, scalability, and innovation story. In the market, you'll position Tray competitively in conversations, proposals, and public content. In every step of Tray's growth, you'll represent the future of agentic AI, showing how Tray helps organizations unlock their potential and actualize their automation journey.

Travel :

As the Field CTO, the expectation is that you will be travelling to meet with prospects and clients 50% of the time.

What You'll Do :

  • Build a reputation as a visionary in automation, low-code, and AI-first integration, aligning Tray's narrative with broader industry transformation.
  • Shape the roadmap by collaborating tightly with Product, Engineering, and Execs to ensure we're solving enterprise pain points that matter.
  • Partner with sales teams to drive and shape deals by offering technical insights and guidance, advising on frameworks to address client challenges, and ensuring Tray's platform aligns with business objectives.
  • Help prospects feel confident trusting Tray with mission-critical workflows.
  • Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and GTM to deliver feedback and shape the roadmap.
  • Act as executive sponsor and technical guide for lighthouse accounts.
  • Lead industry conversation by : representing Tray at events, share insights with peers, and contribute to technical thought leadership.

Who You Are :

  • Executive Customer Engagement : Position Tray as a strategic partner, not a tool. You will paint the roadmap vision, show enterprise-grade readiness, and help de-risk technical objections before they emerge
  • Deal Acceleration & Strategic Presales : Design and present reference architectures tailored to Fortune 500 complexity, making them feel elegant, simple, and inevitable.
  • Thought Leadership & Evangelism : Be Tray's external technical evangelist. You will host executive roundtables, publish strategic content, and speak at key industry events.
  • Field-to-Product Feedback Loop : Translate field insight into product vision, constantly bringing back patterns, blockers, and innovation gaps from top-tier customers.
  • Enterprise Readiness & Trust Building : Own Tray's enterprise technical narrative, from security posture and scale to SLAs, integrations, and extensibility.
  • Customer Success & Expansion : Stay engaged with strategic customers post-sale to drive expansion, build champions, and ensure we're delivering measurable business outcomes.
  • Industry Insight & Competitive Strategy : Track automation and integration trends, emerging vendors, and shifting enterprise expectations, and advise the business accordingly.
  • Fluent in AI Development Tools : Skilled in AI tools, prompt engineering, and customizing AI for enterprise use cases.

    Salary

    If hired, the on target total compensation for this role is $310,000-$365,000 annually.

    Our salary range is based on paying competitively for our size, industry, and location of the role, and are one part of many other compensation, benefit and reward opportunities we provide, including stock options.

    Individual pay rate decisions are based on a number of factors including qualifications for the role, experience level, skill set, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. The range above is a good faith estimate based on the expectations as laid out in the job description, however we are often open to a wide variety of profiles and recognize that the person we hire may be less or more experienced than this job description as posted.
