About the Role :

The Mohs Technician plays a crucial role in the health care services industry by assisting dermatologists in the Mohs micrographic surgery process, which is a specialized technique for treating skin cancer. This position requires a high level of precision and attention to detail, as the technician will prepare and process tissue samples for examination. The ultimate goal is to ensure that all cancerous cells are removed while preserving as much healthy tissue as possible, leading to optimal patient outcomes. The technician will also be responsible for maintaining a sterile environment and adhering to safety protocols to protect both patients and staff. By effectively supporting the surgical team, the Mohs Technician contributes significantly to the overall success of skin cancer treatments and patient satisfaction.

We are seeking per diem help in our Allentown, East Stroudsburg and Lehighton offices in PA on an as needed basis Mon-Fri 8-5pm

Minimum Qualifications :

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a Mohs technician training program or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in basic life support (BLS).

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience working in a dermatology or surgical setting.
  • Certification as a Mohs technician from a recognized professional organization.
  • Knowledge of histology and pathology.

    • Responsibilities :

  • Prepare and process tissue specimens for Mohs surgery, ensuring accurate and timely results.
  • Assist the surgeon during the procedure by providing necessary instruments and maintaining a sterile field.
  • Perform quality control checks on equipment and materials to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of procedures, patient information, and specimen handling.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families to provide information and support throughout the surgical process.

    The required skills for a Mohs Technician include strong attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure, as the technician must ensure that specimens are processed accurately and efficiently. Excellent communication skills are essential for interacting with patients and the surgical team, providing clear information and support.
