Job Description

Join a dynamic team as a Medical Assistant in the Neuro Department. This role involves providing exceptional patient care by taking vital signs, assisting healthcare providers, and maintaining organized and well-stocked examination rooms. You will also play a crucial role in transitioning data to the EPIC system, ensuring the smooth operation of daily tasks.

Responsibilities

Take and record vital signs such as height, weight, temperature, and blood pressure in the electronic health record.

Assist in converting data from Allscripts to EPIC.

Chaperone and assist Providers and LPNs / RNs as requested.

Maintain clean, well-equipped examination rooms, and clean and sterilize instruments.

Stock examination rooms and triage areas with medical supplies, inventory, and submit reorder requests to the LPN Supervisor.

Take messages in the electronic health record, page doctors when appropriate, and answer inquiries.

Schedule patient appointments as needed.

Greet patients in a patient-centered, courteous manner, and manage patient arrivals in the Practice Management Software system.

Perform phone triage and various in-house labs, recording them per policy.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Skills

Certified or Registered Medical Assistant certification.

Experience in taking patient intake and vital signs.

Experience with EPIC system, triage, and electronic medical records (EMR).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

1+ year of medical assistant experience preferred.

Strong customer service skills.

Experience using Allscripts.

Work Environment

This role is based in Norfolk, Virginia. Work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 : 00 AM to 5 : 00 PM. The facility promotes a learning environment where employees have opportunities for growth and skill development within the healthcare field.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Norfolk, VA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00 / hr.
