Propulsion Systems is seeking a Business Management Director - Level 1. This position will have dual responsibility and be responsible for all Program Finance and Controls, Earned Value Management, and Profit and Loss within the Operating Unit of Commercial (GEM63 / Amazon Kuiper / Castor / Orion), as well as manage Propulsion Systems "PS 2030" initiative to upgrade, modernize, and expand PS facilities and infrastructure to support the massive growth the business unit is experiencing. This position will be based in Magna, UT.

Northrop Grumman Space Systems designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Our main products include launch vehicles and related propulsion systems; missile products, subsystems and defense electronics; precision weapons, armament systems and ammunition; satellites and associated space components and services; and advanced aerospace structures. The Propulsion Systems (PS) Business Unit focuses on solid rock motors for diverse Government and Commercial customers.

Job Duties & Responsibilities :

Responsible for all Propulsion Systems, business management strategy and execution in assigned Operating Units (Commercial / PS2030). The individual in this position must be able to consistently and professionally interface directly with government and commercial customers, as well as interface within NGC at the business unit, division, and sector level. Candidates must be able to function in an environment characterized by frequently changing priorities.

  • Strong experience in an EVMS environment, managing the baselining, and monthly EV cycle, in coordination with the PMO, and Scheduling.
  • Exhibit a high degree of flexibility on fast changing, fast growing, and high visibility programs. Create, develop, present, and defend complex What If / Excursion analysis to all levels of management.
  • Work closely with various functions, and senior business unit leadership, in a matrixed organization, to provide relevant, accurate and timely financial data.
  • Develop and motivate a productive staff of approximately 20 (Managers and Staff) in a team environment with excellent interpersonal, planning, presentation and organizational skills with focused emphasis on continuous process improvement.

The successful candidate will have experience with the following :

  • Consistent, extensive, and strong experience with EVMS management, controls and reporting
  • Development of the Annual Operating Plan (AOP) / Long Range Strategic Plan (LRSP), and revenue / cash forecast, supporting monthly / quarterly / annual close cycles
  • Experience with principles of Program Finance, Program Scheduling, Financial Reporting and Analysis, Contract Administration, Subcontracts / Supply Chain, Program Performance Management, Revenue Recognition, Backlog Reporting, Cash Forecasting, GAAP
  • Experience supporting SOX Compliance, Internal / External Audit activities, Company compliance requirements
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement with a focus on internal and external EAC savings, and efficiencies.
  • Basic Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 10 years professional work experience - OR - Master's Degree and a minimum of 8+ years professional work experience
  • An additional 4 years of experience will be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Prior people management experience
  • Earned Value Management (EVM) experience
  • Ability to travel, up to 15% of the time, as needed, per business needed
  • Ability obtain DoD Secret Clearance
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • CPA / MBA
  • Proficiency in Costpoint, COBRA, and Microsoft Project
  • Experience analyzing large commercial or Government contracts with experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working at a government contractor with exposure to EAC management, EVMS, Overhead Rate management and strong understanding of revenue recognition
  • Strong financial leadership and analytical skills and experience presenting financial information to all levels of the organization
  • Understanding of underlying Government procurement regulations, including FAR and CAS
  • Experience with Profit & Loss responsibilities and Revenue Forecasting
  • Salary Range : $145,800.00 - $218,600.00

    Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and / or personal business.
