Position Summary :
Physically checks in all food related items.
Ensures the proper weight, specifications, quantity and quality of the order being delivered.
Essential Responsibilities :
- Safe handling of food to maintain high levels of sanitary codes set forth by State and Local agencies.
- Checks, on a daily basis, all refrigerated and storage areas to ensure proper rotation, storage and usage of all food items.
- Places all items in proper locations and rotates all stock to insure freshness.
- Assists in monthly inventory, physical count and organization of all food areas.
- Physically checks in all deliveries as per purchasing report, recording items received by weight and quantity.
- Opens all containers and / or boxes to check for freshness, quality and exact specifications.
- Notifies Purchasing Manager of any major discrepancies with delivery.
- Maintains cleaning of all storage areas.
- Stores refrigerated and frozen foods within 30 minutes of arrival to decrease food safety problems.
- Communicates with members, co-workers, management and the general public in a courteous and professional manner.
- Conforms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
- Exhibits and maintains a professional demeanor to reflect a positive image of The Polo Club.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Purchasing Manager and Executive Chef.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Must have knowledge of food, with relation to availability, proper handling and quality.Ability to verbally communicate well in English and in writing.Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instructions in English.Ability to interact professionally and maintain effective working relationships with superiors, co-workers and members.Must be able to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment.Supervisory Responsibilities : This job does not have supervisory responsibilities.Knowledge and Skill Requirements

Education & Work Experience Requirements :
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills : Ability to communicate well in English.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Mathematical Skills : Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
Ability to perform these operations using units of American money.
Reasoning Ability : Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills : No requirements.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations : Serve Safe certification.
