TITLE : Counselor - Chemical Dependency
Position Overview :
BayMark Health Services, through BAART Programs Durham, is seeking a Chemical Dependency Counselor to provide compassionate, patient-centered treatment and casework services for individuals receiving methadone maintenance or detoxification treatment. The ideal candidate is dedicated to supporting recovery, promoting patient well-being, and ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / TRAINING
Required :
- Licensure : Must hold or be in process of obtaining a LACD (Licensed Addictions Counselor) .
- Experience : Demonstrated experience working with opiate-addicted populations.
- Skills :
- Conducting assessments and using ASI criteria for patient placement
- Treatment plan development and crisis intervention
- Knowledge of addiction processes, drug effects, overdose signs, and community resources
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and maintain accurate and timely patient files.Conduct comprehensive assessments and develop individualized treatment plans according to State OTP regulations.Provide clinical counseling services, patient care, and education on opiate addiction and recovery.Facilitate individual counseling sessions and coordinate patient care with the treatment team.Act as a patient advocate, liaising with community and regulatory agencies as needed.Monitor patient progress, adapting treatment as required to ensure successful outcomes.Participate in program evaluations, documentation, and compliance with all regulatory standards.Coordinate with medical professionals regarding dose adjustments, step levels, and take-home medication eligibility.Conduct patient intake, orientation, progress documentation, and discharge planning.Provide crisis intervention and participate in staff meetings and supervision sessions.Support organizational and departmental goals through professional, ethical behavior and teamwork.
