Job Description
The Department of Sterile and Materials Processing is a state-of-the-art instrument processing and sterilizing facility. The Sterile Processing Department assists in the decontamination, High Level Disinfection (HLD), assembling, sterilization, and distribution of clean and sterile surgical instruments, trays, and pans. These functions are performed using state-of-the-art equipment, and instruments are tracked by Getinge's T-DOC bar code system.
Responsibilities
- Inspect, assemble, package, and sterilize surgical instrument pans, procedural trays, and surgical case carts.
- Select appropriate methods of packaging and sterilization.
- Examine surgical instrumentation for cleanliness and proper assembly and function.
- Operate steam sterilizers and maintain proper levels of time, pressure, and temperature.
- Perform maintenance on sterilizers and ensure compliance with established protocols.
- Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment and prevent cross-contamination.
- Receive and store supplies, documenting discrepancies and maintaining inventory levels.
- Document and fill orders for surgical supplies for patient care areas.
- Perform daily quality assurance checks on stock levels and sterility dates.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
Certified Sterile Processor (HSPA or CBSPD) required.BLS certification from American Heart Association required.Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sterile Processing Technician.Experience in a large hospital (500 beds or more) required.Travel experience of at least 6 months required.Two professional references from the last two experiences required.Preferred : Level 1 trauma center experience, Certified Endoscope Reprocessor (CER Cert), and orthopedic tray experience.Why ARMStaffing?
