The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with professional and organizational standards of treatment. A Brief Overview The Physical Therapy Assistant is responsible for providing physical therapy treatment to patients under the direction of a licensed Physical Therapist and in accordance with professional and organizational standards of treatment. • Implements patient treatments based on assessment and under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist.
• Initiates patient and family teaching.
• Demonstrates initiative in identifying opportunities for self-development and enhancement of professional competency. Education / Formal Training Requirements
• Associate's Degree Physical Therapy Work Experience Requirements
• No prior work experience Licenses and Certifications Requirements
• Physical Therapist Assistant - Tennessee - Tennessee Board of Physical Therapy Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Ability to understand and prepare moderately complex written materials, such as patient records.
• Ability to verbally communicate treatment instructions and patient status to Associates, physicians, patients, and patients' family members.
• Ability to work without close supervision and to exercise independent judgment.
• Ability to organize multiple tasks and projects and maintain control of work flow. Supervision Provided by this Position
• There are no supervisory or lead responsibilities assigned to this job. Physical Demands
• Exposure to patient body fluids.
• Ability to react quickly to emergency situations.
• Ability to read and write to communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.
• Normal vision, including peripheral vision.
• Ability to lift, push and pull up to 150 lbs., as well as carry up to 40 lbs.
• Ability to stand, squat, reach, bend, walk, twist and sit in one place throughout shift.
• Ability to use hands and feet together for repetitive, coordinated motions.
• Ability to use hands for gripping and squeezing as well as repetitive hand and wrist motion.
