Summary of Position : The Waterjet Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining waterjet cutting equipment used to cut shields, hard armor plates, and other hard armor or R&D components. This role ensures all parts are cut to precise specifications while maintaining safety, cleanliness, and operational efficiency in the waterjet area. Duties & Responsibilities : Machine Operation & Setup.Load materials and set up cutting programs according to Manufacturing Orders and engineering drawings.Verify part dimensions and quality using calipers, templates, or other measuring tools.Adjust settings or programs to maintain accuracy and part consistency.Ensure all parts meet quality standards prior to release.Record job data, including part counts, machine hours, and any deviations or issues encountered.Communicate material or program discrepancies to the supervisor and engineering team.Perform user-level maintenance such as nozzle inspection, filter cleaning, garnet removal, and tank checks.Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with 5S standards.Monitor consumables and notify supervision when replacement materials are needed.Follow all company safety protocols, including PPE use, lockout / tagout, and waterjet-specific safety guidelines.Collaborate with other departments to support production flow and R&D needs.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and process optimization efforts. Qualifications : High school diploma or GED required.Prior experience operating CNC or waterjet machinery preferred.Ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings or part files.Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.Basic mechanical aptitude and understanding of industrial equipment.Basic computer literacy. Physical Demands : Ability to lift and carry materials up to 50 pounds. Must be able to stand, walk, and move frequently throughout the facility. Use of hands and arms to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls. Work in warehouse or production environments, which may include exposure to loud noises, heavy machinery, and changing temperatures. Must be able to wear required PPE, including hearing protection and safety glasses.
