The Emergency Room at Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD) is a state-of-the-art facility dedicated to providing immediate, specialized care to infants, children, and adolescents in need of urgent medical attention. Located in Norfolk, Virginia, CHKD’s ER is the region’s only Level 1 Pediatric Trauma Center, ensuring the highest level of emergency care for young patients facing critical conditions.

Staffed by a team of board-certified pediatric emergency medicine physicians, experienced nurses, and child life specialists, the ER at CHKD is designed to address the unique needs of children in a compassionate, child-friendly environment. The unit is equipped to handle a wide range of emergencies, from minor injuries to life-threatening illnesses, with a particular focus on managing high-acuity cases and the growing needs of pediatric mental health patients.

CHKD’s Emergency Room is known for its fast-paced, efficient care, supported by advanced diagnostic tools and treatment facilities. The team is trained to provide expert triage, ensuring that each child receives timely and appropriate care. The ER also collaborates closely with CHKD’s specialized units, such as the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), to deliver comprehensive care for the most vulnerable patients.
