Technical Writer

APEX Systems is seeking Technical Writers to join our high-performing team in developing technical documentation for advanced military systems! If you are interested in learning more, apply TODAY!

Shift : Hours may vary between 35 - 45 hours per week.

Location : Onsite in Elkridge, MD.

Compensation : $30-37 / hr, based on relevant experience

Duration : 6+ month contract with the potential to extend / convert full-time

Clearance : Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Responsibilities :

• Write, rewrite, and / or edit technical documents such as technical procedure manuals, user manuals, programming manuals, service manuals, operational specifications, and related technical publications to communicate technical information and instructions clearly and effectively to a wide range of audiences.
• Oversee the preparation of illustrative materials, selecting drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts.
• Conduct quality reviews of materials.
• Publish materials in various formats, including page-based, electronic (basic and interactive), structured (HTML, XML, and SGML).
• Collaborate with task leads, writers, engineers, and instructors to develop and deliver sensor / system technical manuals to varying levels of detail and delivery formats.
• Perform Desktop Publishing tasks for program / project reports, whitepapers, articles, and other documents.
• Research and compile information from program documents, engineering sources, etc., to develop manual outlines and adhere to military / civilian specifications and standards of technical writing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
