JOB SUMMARY
Leads a small team in performing advanced maintenance and repair of steam hot water and condensing boiler systems. Responsibilities include hands-on cleaning servicing and troubleshooting of boiler equipment as well as supervising on-site crew activities. This advanced journeyman role supports scheduling task assignment and inspection of completed work often assisting the manager directly. The position requires readiness for emergency repairs and complex service tasks. Employees must wear appropriate personal protective equipment including dust masks and protective clothing during assigned duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves as a work leader by both supervising and participating in the work of less skilled tradesmen engaged in the servicing adjusting replacing repairing cleaning and maintenance of commercial heating boilers.Lays out work for self and other members of the crew.Instructs new employees in the proper safe practices and procedures of the trade.Reads blue prints schematic drawings or sketches to determine location size capacity and type of boiler.Orders stocks and maintains an ample inventory of cleaning supplies materials and related equipment Keeps records as assigned.Inspects commercial boilers to determine operating efficiency. Adjusts repairs cleans or overhauls all safety components such as operating limit high limit UV scanner low water cut off secondary low water cut off blend / condensate pumps feed water system and pressure relief valve.Services adjusts maintains and places commercial boilers in operation by trouble shooting and calibrating using a digital combustion analyzer as well as checking gauges and instruments to maintain proper operating specifications and establish preventive maintenance schedules and standards.Responds to emergency situations as they arise.Performs boiler efficiency tests and state mandated safety checks.Prepares and / or supervises the proper preparation and lockout / tag-out of boilers and auxiliary components for cleaning or maintenance to ensure the boiler is at zero energy state.Performs other related duties as assigned within the same classification or lower.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education
High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required.Experience
Six (6) years mechanical equipment service or operator experience in a commercial industrial or education environment required.Two (2) years Preventive Maintenance or Facilities Engineer experience preferred;Or an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides the required knowledge skills and abilities deemed sufficient to prepare the employee to successfully perform the duties of the position.Knowledge Skills Abilities and Other Characteristics
