Summary : The Director of Residence Life is responsible for the visionary and strategic leadership, direction, analyses, assessments, projections, planning and management of the Department of Housing and Residence Life. The Director is responsible for creating a welcoming and supportive community within the residence halls . The Director, using sound educational and management principles, ensures that the policies, programs, services, and processes cultivate and support academically centered residential communities within a residence hall system serving approximately 1,200 students in four residence halls and three apartment complexes. The vision of the leadership for the institution is to expand the number of residential students by strategically planning for new facilities and by developing effective marketing and programmatic efforts to promote this growth. The Director of Residence Life works collaboratively with various campus offices to allow for seamless high-quality service to students, faculty, and staff.

Education and / or Experience
Required : Bachelor’s Degree. Preferred : Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or Counseling. Previous experience in student personnel work and / or related administration area in residence halls, housing operations, and related settings; Demonstrated competencies and success in an academic community reflected in excellent leadership, management, supervision, planning, and assessment. Outstanding individual and group communication skills; Demonstrated skills in facilities operations management and renovation. Prior responsibility for occupancy and budget projections and management linked with strategic planning.
Additional Requirements : The successful candidate will show demonstrated success, knowledge, skills, and experience in the following areas : academically related program analysis and development; strategic and operational planning; policy formation student development theory; prevention, intervention, and crisis management; selection, training, and evaluation of housing / residence life staff; budget development, management, and projections; and facility and housing operations. The ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff to plan, implement, and assess outcomes of services and programs related to the short and long-term goals of the Department of Housing, Student Development, and the University is essential. Must possess a valid Driver’s License.
