OUR COMPENSATION PHILOSOPHY
We offer competitive total compensation that includes pay, benefits, and other recognition programs for our employees. The base pay range shown above considers the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including knowledge / skills; relevant experience and training; education / certifications / licensure; and other business and organizational factors. This base pay range does not include our comprehensive benefits package and any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role.
Reporting to the Vice President of Clinical Services, the Senior Director of Pharmacy & Chief Pharmacy Officer for Baystate Health is an executive leadership position responsible for strategic leadership and execution of pharmaceutical health care related to the BH compass points of safety, quality, experience, and value. The CPO will instill a culture of safety and accountability and take a results-oriented approach to leading the Pharmacy Enterprise.
The Chief Pharmacy Officer will collaborate with medical, patient care, and other administrative leadership teams at the local and system levels to implement integrated and sustainable pharmacy programs that are innovative, strategic, and aligned with the Baystate Health vision. The incumbent will lead all areas of pharmacy, including Acute Care, Specialty, Retail, Clinical Programs, Pharmacy Benefit strategies, and Financial performance (340b).
The CPO's financial and business responsibilities include developing a fiscal strategy, monitoring financial performance, effectively integrating services, selecting relevant equipment and pharmaceuticals, exploring locations / space / real estate, and collaborating on plans to meet overall system goals.
The incumbent will also lead medication safety, quality, and process improvement initiatives at the system level, ensuring systems are designed and implemented to ensure sustainability and reliability in the medication use process. The incumbent will oversee a medication use system that supports all areas of care provided at Baystate Health.
The incumbent will also be accountable for all pharmacy-related internal and external academic activities. External activities include relationships with colleges of pharmacy, experiential education, residency programs, and faculty placement at pharmacy sites. Internal activities include team development, competency assessment, and residency programs.
The CPO ensures compliance with regulatory bodies across the enterprise, including the Joint Commission, the Department of Public Health, and the Massachusetts Board of Pharmacy.
Job Requirements :
Responsible for the pharmacy supply chain, including pharmaceutical contracting, procurement, inventory optimization, distribution procedures, and pharmaceutical waste management.
Required Experience :
Ten years of progressive health-system pharmacy leadership in a large academic medical center
Advanced financial skills to develop proformas and to develop business strategies.
