Material Coordinator - Waste Environmental Management
The Material Coordinator Waste & Environmental Management is responsible for coordinating the flow and accountability of environmental materials, waste streams, and associated logistics within the APS-3 program. This role ensures that hazardous and non-hazardous waste, environmental materials (e.g., recycling, neutralization, disposal), and standard material / parts stocks are processed in accordance with contract scope, base / shipboard operations, environmental regulations, and Company Zero Harm culture. The role works closely with shops, supply / warehouse, environmental compliance teams, and field operations to support readiness, cost-control, and mission execution.
Key Responsibilities :
- Coordinate and expedite the movement, staging, storage, and disposal of materials and waste : parts, equipment, assemblies, components, packaging, hazardous waste containers, non-hazardous waste streams, recycling streams.
- Review production / maintenance schedules and environmental activity plans to assess material / waste requirements or surpluses; anticipate delivery / turnover sequences.
- Monitor and control the movement of materials and waste items between departments or sites (land or shipboard) using computerized systems (e.g., GCSS-Army or equivalent) and standard inventory / stock record systems.
- Verify receipt of materials / waste containers against documentation (e.g., manifests, receiving receipts), examine for damage / deterioration, report discrepancies.
- Maintain inventories of materials / waste containers, prepare periodic reports (quantity, type, location, disposition status) for environmental compliance and logistics readiness.
- Coordinate with environmental compliance group to ensure that waste accumulation / segregation / manifesting requirements are met (e.g., Satellite Accumulation Areas, container compatibility) - leveraging general environmental management requirements.
- Work with supply / warehouse teams to ensure materials are stored / palletized correctly, access managed, and shipping / receipt flows are tracked.
- Provide guidance and informal training to lower-level personnel (warehouse clerks, shipping / receiving, waste handlers) regarding material / waste handling, documentation, system entries.
- Support audits / inspections (internal, government, environmental regulatory) by providing records, reports, and facility / material listings as required.
- Comply with and promote the Company "Zero Harm" culture, including adherence to environmental, health & safety (EHS) policies, and any required PPE, worksite and shipboard safety standards.
- Other duties as assigned to support program mission - may involve deployment, shipboard work, off-site work, non-climate-controlled environments.
Experience Requirements :
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in material control, logistics, warehousing, or supply chain functions (preferably in military / contract environment).Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to multi-task and prioritize.Computer literate with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and able to learn supply / warehouse systems (e.g., GCSS-Army or ERP).Valid state driver's license (if driving / transporting materials) often required.U.S. Citizen, able to obtain / maintain a Common Access Card (CAC) and base / shipboard access.Preferred Qualifications :
Experience with environmental / waste management (hazardous & nonhazardous) in a military, government or industrial setting.Familiarity with environmental regulatory requirements about waste storage, manifesting, disposal, recycling.Experience with large equipment / material sets (Classes II, IV, VII, IX) or shipboard logistics.Experience with procurement / purchasing, vendor management, or MRO support.Experience in shipboard or deployment-capable logistics operations.Demonstrated commitment to safety / environmental compliance culture (Zero Harm).Education Requirements :
High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education preferred.Physical & Environmental Conditions :
