AWS established a specialized group of service teams responsible for the work we are doing with the U.S. Intelligence Community. We are building some of the largest and most complex distributed systems in the world and we need adaptable people to help us implement and operate them.

AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (IoT) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.

The candidate selected must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS / SCI with polygraph level. Upon start the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

Key job responsibilities

• Lead and architect system-wide solutions spanning multiple engineers and teams
• Drive technology strategy decisions balancing short-term delivery with long-term vision
• Provide technical leadership in ambiguous environments where technology strategy needs to be defined
• Build consensus across teams and drive adoption of engineering best practices
• Mentor and coach other engineers fostering a culture of robust software development
• Establish and improve operational practices including monitoring telemetry and incident management
• Identify and resolve root causes of endemic problems affecting multiple teams
• Design and maintain scalable simple and maintainable systems
• Effectively communicate technical designs and decisions to various audiences

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $151300 / year in our lowest geographic market up to $261500 / year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered equity sign-on payments and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package in addition to a full range of medical financial and / or other benefits.
