What The Role Is

Americas electric system is in the midst of an unprecedented transition. The organizations that operate our regional electric markets face an enormous challenge in evolving market rules to meet load growth quickly and affordably. Clearway Energy Group is one of the largest clean energy companies in the U.S. operating a fleet of wind solar battery storage and natural gas assets that spans 27 states. Clearways Market Policy team works at the interface of politics economics and project development to advance market rules that support Clearways development pipeline and operating fleet. This position will help Clearway navigate the rapid change in regional electric market policies to help build a cleaner reliable and affordable energy system and maximize the value of our business.

Regional Focus : This role is designed to cover RTOs / ISOs across the Eastern Interconnect and ERCOT with specific regional responsibilities TBD based on candidate strengths.

Location : Preference for Washington DC area-based remote work arrangement or Denver or Scottsdale office; will consider excellent candidates in other locations (e.g. Chicago Indianapolis Philadelphia) provided easy access to a major airport.

What Youll Be Doing

• Work with Clearway business units to identify priority areas for offense and defense on regional electric market policies. Topics include data center integration transmission and interconnection reform capacity market evolution and creation of new market mechanisms to increase grid flexibility and reliability.
• Review proposed market and policy changes and identify opportunities and threats for Clearway. Communicate those opportunities and threats effectively to relevant Clearway business units and facilitate productive internal conversations to understand whether and how Clearway should respond.
• Effectively manage consultants and leverage trade association resources to expand insights and information flow to Clearway business units
• Develop and execute strategies to achieve Clearways goals in regional markets including :

Become fluent in the power map and decision structure of each regional electric market

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location skills relevant and demonstrated experience education training and certifications and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus subject to personal and company performance goals.

$160000 - $180000 USD
