This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management

Current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator

Three years work experience in the Health Information Management profession.

Course Specific Requirements :

HIM 182 :

Bachelors or Masters degree in Health Care Administration, Masters in Public Health or related graduate degree, or other recognized credential or license in a healthcare field

Three years related experience within the previous five year period.

HIM 270, HIM 273 and HIM 276 :

Current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)

Three years ICD9-CM / ICD-10 coding experience in an acute care facility within previous five year period.

HIM 272 and HIM 277 :

Associate or Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Management

Current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician or Registered Health Information Administrator

Three years management experience in the Health Information Management profession.

HIM 275

Current credential as a Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist(CCS), Certified Coding Specialist – Physician (CCS-P), or Certified Professional Coder (CPC)

Five years recent experience in CPT coding.

Note Regarding Academic Credentials

Official transcripts are required to be submitted within 2 weeks of offer date for degrees required in the stated Instructor Qualifications.

Instructors shall have earned required academic credentials at a regionally accredited US institution or a foreign institution having the equivalent of regional accreditation. Instructors with credentials from other countries will have their transcripts evaluated by agencies that have good standing with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services to establish fulfillment of this standard. Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC

Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule.

Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture / Lab).
