Job Summary
The Director Ambulatory Services Project Management provides leadership for key ambulatory initiatives under Ambulatory Services. This position will lead a highly functioning team that will be responsible for managing initiatives under multiple stakeholders across health system and clinical departments. Responsible for providing day-to-day management to a team of project managers and project specialists. Works under minimal supervision to direct, plan, manage, and develop short and long-term project plans, goals and deliverables. This position will be accountable to the executive leadership team of ambulatory services.
Experience and Education
Required
Education Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Quantitative Analysis, or a related discipline
Experience 5 years of progressively responsible project management experience. Experience leading a team and proven team development and leadership skills
Preferred
Education Master's Degree in Business Administration, Health Care Administration, or Public Health strongly preferred
Experience Experience leading ambulatory initiatives in a large medical center
Licenses and Certifications (PMP) Project Management Prof Cert strongly preferred. Lean Six Sigma certification strongly preferred
Job Duties
Leadership
Lead and actively manage the Ambulatory Project Management team
Develop a high functioning culture within the team to provide proactive and efficient project support for various cross-cutting ambulatory initiatives
Responsible for recruitment, effective delegation, annual appraisals, career growth, and overall performance of the team
Provide active feedback to Ambulatory Leadership on opportunities to improve processes and enhance patient experience
Represent Ambulatory Services in stakeholder meetings as required by Ambulatory Leadership and be able to confidently present on projects and initiatives
Project Execution / Management
Optimize intake of assigned projects to define project scope, goals, and deliverables to support ambulatory initiatives
Develop full-scale project plans, milestones, success criteria, and associated communication documents
Clearly communicate project expectations to team members and stakeholders in a timely manner
Proactively manage changes in project scope to identify potential crises and devise contingency plans
Review staff project plans and aid in execution of plans
Ensure all projects include current state analysis with operational processes and data analysis, future state creation including pilots with proven success metrics, and detailed execution
Conduct post project reviews and create recommendations in order to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements
Manage communications, tasks, presentations, and project plan updates in collaboration with ambulatory stakeholders
Identify and manage project dependencies and critical paths, estimates resources and participants needed to achieve project goals and communicates recommendations to ambulatory leadership in a timely manner
This role is expected to also lead high-level projects individually as required
Manage other projects and initiatives as assigned and required by Ambulatory Executive Team
