job_description.job_card.job_descriptionReads work orders and sees that jobs are performed per work order. Asks questions if work order is not clear. Sets up and operates drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts. Repairs equipment rebuilds equipment and adjusts functional parts of devices and control instruments. Installs equipment, devices, and instruments. Performs preventative maintenance such as lubricating equipment, changing filters, inspecting parts for wear and cleaning equipment. Logs preventative maintenance activity in preventative maintenance program records. Working with supervisor, initiates purchase orders for parts and equipment. Makes an entry to logbook. Logbook documents problems and serves as the maintenance record for the plant and equipment. Understands plant labeling requirements and sees that all chemicals are properly labeled and managed. Recommends measures to improve equipment performance and maintenance activities. Performs other duties and special projects as assigned. Ability to read, write and speak English so that individual can document problems in log, can read technical manuals and parts catalogues. Requires a minimum of three years prior experience as a maintenance mechanic, technical courses, and ability to perform basic math and to use measurements and the ability to read blueprints and / or schematics. Individuals work with tools and instruments such as drill press, simple hand tools, micrometers, welding equipment, and drafting equipment. May work with PC. The employee is frequently required to stand, lift, climb, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl and walk. Must be able to lift 100 pounds and to work in uncomfortable positions for prolonged periods. Employee may be exposed to various chemicals. Must be able to wear a respirator and / or other personal protective equipment (PPE) when necessary to reduce exposure.
