Structural Engineering Intern

Position Summary : Responsible for engineering design using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Analyze survey data to plan projects
• Develop project geometry
• Perform structural analysis
• Reference client specifications and industry codes
• Prepare structural design for steel and concrete elements
• Compare structural alternatives
• Estimate quantities and construction costs
• Summarize findings in reports
• Assist with engineering document production
• Coordinate with internal and external team members

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking.  Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.  There may be occasional field work which will require working around traffic or walking on uneven ground for limited periods.
