Salary : $32.85 - $39.93 Hourly
Annually : $68,327.76 - $83,052.84

Under general supervision, receives and investigates complaints regarding zoning, housing law violations, business licensing, occupancy, land use and public nuisances; initiates enforcement action and issues citations and notices of violation; performs related duties as required.
The Community Improvement Inspector is the journey-level classification in the Community Improvement Inspector series. Incumbents, with two years of experience in code enforcement, perform both routine and complex investigations and enforcement action against violators of various City codes and ordinances, including business licensing and State housing laws. Receives supervision from the Community Improvement Manager and work direction and guidance from the Senior Community Improvement Inspector; exercises no supervision.
Essential functions include : receiving and responding to complaints, conducting site visits, determining alternative methods to achieve code compliance, preparing abatement letters, organizing cases for legal action, investigating and enforcing the City's ordinance regulating the storage and parking of inoperative vehicles, inspecting for home occupation permits, preparing liens for substandard properties, and providing assistance to the public.
Qualifications include : education in inspection technology, public administration, criminal justice, or a closely related field, one year of experience in municipal enforcement inspection or investigation, possession of a valid Class C California Driver's License, and ability to complete required certifications.
Physical conditions include : standing or sitting for prolonged periods, stooping, lifting, operating office equipment, and verbally communicating.
