Medicaid Program Administrator
The Orange County Department of Social Services has an opening for a Medicaid Program Administrator. The work involves the responsibility for administering Medicaid programs within the Economic Services Division. An employee in this class has responsibility in managing all Medicaid programs, services and staff within the Economic Services division including those providing Adult Medicaid, Family and Children's Medicaid, related contracts and grants, and compliance issues. This position works collaboratively with the Economic Services Program Manager and other management staff.
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Economic Services Program Manager with considerable leeway to exercise independent judgment within local, state, and federal regulations and procedures, prioritizing multiple work assignments, planning, and accomplishing projects, addressing, customer needs and initiative in work methods. Supervision over others is required of this position. Position does related work as required.
Hiring range is based on the Orange County Social Services Step Plan. The Step Plan is based on years of Medicaid Program Administrator experience. Full credit is given for years of experience performing the same job functions. Partial credit is given for years of experience performing related job functions. The top half of the scale is reserved for career employees with senior-level experience in the same role. This position requires an SBI background check with fingerprinting due to the passing of GS 2025-16 effective 10 / 1 / 2025.
Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in social work AND two (2) years of social work experience working with families and children AND one (1) year of work experience in the direct supervision of staff, OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in social work AND three (3) years of social work experience working with families and children AND two (2) years of experience in the direct supervision of staff, OR an equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above. A higher degree does not substitute for work experience.
Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
