Description

The City of West Allis is now hiring a 3rd Equipment Operator to join our dedicated Public Works team!

Are you an experienced operator of front-end loaders and other motorized equipment? Do you thrive on diverse work assignments that let you showcase your skills with different types of machinery? If your answer is yes, then this 3rd shift position is calling you!Working for the City of West Allis offers a stable and rewarding career.

What You'll do

  • Operate a variety of equipment and machinery, including :

Trucks and tandem vehicles

  • Large rubber-tired end loaders
  • Street sweepers
  • Snow blowers for front-end loaders
  • Dickey-John salt spreading systems
  • Refuse and recycling packers
  • Assist with snow removal operations, including the application of salt and sand
  • Perform routine manual labor related to :

    • Equipment operation

  • Construction, maintenance, and service activities
  • Maintain accurate work records and compile related reports
  • Tolerate various weather and working conditions, including : temperature extremes, exposure to odors, noise, and dust

  • Availability to work the Sunday through Thursday shift, from 11 : 00 PM to 7 : 00 AM .

    Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 2-3 years of recent experience operating front-end loaders
  • Ability to learn and operate specialized municipal equipment, such as :

    • Street sweepers

  • Snow removal equipment
  • Valid Wisconsin Commercial Driver's License (CDL), Class B or C with air brakes
  • Ability to obtain a Tanker (N) endorsement within 12 months of hire
  • Maintains a good driving record in accordance with City of West Allis policy
