American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care / Observation Unit position requiring an OH or compact license, charge experience, and advanced medication management.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Work in a mixed Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Med Surg Tele environmentDepartment includes observation medicine and telemetryPatient population includes adults and geriatrics presenting with diverse diagnoses such as chest pain, A-fib, CHF, COPD, and post-surgical complicationsPatient ratio is 1 : 4 on all shiftsUnit is fast-paced with a length of stay goal of 18-24 hoursUses EPIC charting system – prior experience requiredNight shift schedule, 3x12 hour shifts (18 : 45–07 : 15)Rotating weekend coverage required (every other weekend)Floating within service line, including between various specialties (Neuro / Stroke, Cardiac, Trauma, Oncology, etc.) and between multiple facilities as neededLevel 1 trauma center environmentObservation medicine experience preferredCare for a variety of acute medical, neurological, and post-surgical casesFrequent communication and collaboration with EDOBS (emergency department observation) providersFirst-time travelers are welcome to applyNavy blue scrubs requiredRTO requests exceeding seven days require management approvalSchedules may change with two weeks’ notice based on staffing needsFree parking available\n \n Requirements\n
Active OH or compact state RN license required at time of submissionMinimum 2 years recent RN experience in PCU, Med Surg Tele, or similar unitCurrent certifications : ACLS, BLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)Charge nurse experience requiredMust be familiar with intermediate medication drips such as heparin, nitroglycerin, cardizem, and insulinEpic charting system experience requiredNo local travelers residing within 50 miles of the facility\n Benefits\n
