Job Title : Welding Assistant

Location : Salt Lake City, UT

Type : Direct Hire

Compensation : $20 - $27 hourly

Contractor Work Model : Onsite

Hours : 6am-3 : 30pm

As a Welder Assistant , you will support our aluminum car body manufacturing operations by assisting Welder-Fitters in preparing, finishing, and handling aluminum components. This includes grinding, cleaning, and preparing weld seams, as well as performing post-weld corrections. Your role is essential in maintaining efficiency, quality, and safety across all stages of the welding and assembly process.

Key Activities

• Prepare aluminum parts for welding by cleaning and prepping weld seams (e.g., with grinding or brushing tools)
• Support finishing and rework of welds through grinding, sanding, and polishing to meet quality standards
• Assist Welder-Fitters during MIG and TIG welding tasks by positioning components and managing tools and fixtures
• Handle, move, and align aluminum subassemblies based on technical drawings and work instructions
• Use measuring tools and adjust parts to meet fit and dimensional requirements
• Identify fabrication defects and perform corrective actions during assembly or prep work
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area; ensure proper handling and storage of materials
• Follow all safety guidelines and support continuous improvement activities on the shop floor
