Hardware Technician

Responsibilities

Peraton is seeking a Hardware Technician to join our team of qualified and diverse individuals on our Department of State (DOS) Consular Affairs Enterprise Infrastructure Operations (CAEIO) program. CAEIO supports the DOS Bureau of Consular Affairs (CA), providing IT Operations and Maintenance to modernize the legacy networks, applications, and databases supporting CA services globally.

A critical element of the CAEIO program is providing IT Operations and Maintenance support for the HW / SW platforms used by CA IT systems in U.S. Passport Offices and Agencies. The Hardware Technician supports domestic Consular facilities, collaborating with government Systems Administrators (SA). Responsibilities include providing technical expertise for HW / SW at the Domestic Consular / Passport facilities and augmenting SA duties as needed. They also support the SA and ISSO in ensuring security and internal controls align with Department of State policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and plan for upgrades, replace HW / SW components as needed, and prepare for consolidation and decommission / retiring of HW / SW as required.
• Monitor and document abnormal performance of server, workstation, and services trends as well as document and maintain site topology configuration and changes.
• Develop, maintain, and communicate diagrams, system configurations and technical documentation.
• Provide a full array of PM / RM services on all card printer systems and associated equipment. PM shall include all periodic cleaning, maintenance, replacement parts, refurbishment, calibration, and / or other adjustments of the card printers and related equipment as necessary.
• All PM / RM will be performed in accordance with the manufacturer specifications, manuals and other instructions. The Hardware Technician is responsible for ensuring that printers are operational during normal business hours. No printer will be without the capability to personalize passport cards for more than 24 hours.
• Provide and ensure availability, efficiency and effectiveness of systems, SW, HW, and data as well as technical support for testing and evaluation purposes.
• Install, configure, troubleshoot, resolve complex issues, and support ongoing usability of desktop computers, SW / HW, and peripheral Commercial-Off-the Shelf (COTS) / Government-Off-the-Shelf (GOTs) technology.
• Install and Troubleshoot DOS approved Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) for break / fix / move related issues or requests, maintain and support crisis management kit to ensure compliance with all current patches and updates.

Core Work Schedule : The Hardware Technician must be available to work 3 : 00PM - 11 : 00PM, with flexability to support the first or mid shift on short notice, when needed, to ensure full site coverage.

Target Salary Range

$51,000 - $82,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
