Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to support youth health services in a structured, secure environment. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to respond effectively to both routine and emergency medical needs.

This role requires working every weekend except Sundays , with consistent 10-hour shifts.

Shift Details

Work Days : Thursday, Friday & Saturday

Shift Length : 10 hours

Weekly Hours : 30 (may be authorized to work additional hours up to 40; no overtime )

Environment : Secure youth facility

Key Responsibilities

Evaluate and respond to youth health concerns; provide guidance on health treatments and procedures

Obtain and process blood, urine, and other specimen samples

Monitor, record, and report changes in youth vitals or medical conditions

Administer medications and observe for adverse reactions

Conduct intake health screenings for newly admitted youth

Provide direct patient care and respond to medical emergencies involving youth and staff

Collaborate with the health services team to coordinate youth treatment plans

Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper storage of medical files

Monitor and maintain medical supplies and equipment

Administer vaccinations and assist with annual TB testing

Perform additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license (state-specific)

Minimum 1 year of RN experience

Strong assessment, emergency response, and clinical decision-making skills

Ability to observe, evaluate, and document medical conditions with accuracy

Excellent verbal and written communication abilities

Ability to work professionally with both clinical and non-clinical staff

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to maintain effective working relationships

Preferred Qualifications

Previous correctional or detention facility experience strongly preferred

Experience working with youth populations
