Finance Position
You will serve as the primary point of contact for resolving system, accounting, or data entry problems.
You will provide input to leadership concerning application of accounting techniques and processes relative to the needs of Financial Management.
You will monitor procedural operations of automated financial systems to determine local training needs.
You will verify proper use of funds, and monitors status of financial activity to preclude or detect violations of government statutes or other funding limitations.
Requirements :
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level.
- Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This is a Financial Management Level 2 certified position per the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) 2012, Section 1599d. This certification level must be achieved within two years of appointment.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and / or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
Qualifications :
In addition to the basic requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate :
Experience utilizing professional knowledge of the principles, theories, and practices of professional accounting and skill in applying that knowledge to broad and difficult assignments.Experience applying a broad-based knowledge of the requirements of associated multiple application areas.Experience providing knowledge of management systems sufficient to design and develop new and changing systems and maintain compliance with new laws, regulations, policies, and standards.Experience analyzing and solving complex problems and developing proposals for resolution.Experience utilizing extensive knowledge of standard Navy financial management information systems.Experience applying knowledge of nonfinancial system which interface and serve as feeder systems to the financial systems and accounting system of record.Experience applying knowledge of financial management and accounting systems policies, procedures, and practices.Education :
Applicants must possess :
Degree : accounting; or a degree in a related field such as business administration, finance, or public administration that included or was supplemented by 24 semester hours in accounting.Combination of education and experience : at least 4 years of experience in accounting, or an equivalent combination of accounting experience, college-level education, and training that provided professional accounting knowledge.Additional information :
This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and / or unusual duty hours may be required.
