Position Overview
We're seeking an experienced Medical Coder / Biller with strong pediatric billing expertise to join our team part-time. This is a unique hybrid role where you'll provide immediate billing support for our pediatric clinic while contributing your expertise to help us develop an AI-powered billing system for primary care practices.
Location : Florida (Remote / Hybrid options available)
Schedule : Part-time, approximately 20 hours per week
Compensation : $25-40 / hour, depending on experience
Primary ResponsibilitiesImmediate Billing Operations (60-70% of role)
- Process and submit claims for pediatric services with high accuracy
- Code pediatric encounters using CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes
- Handle well-child visits, sick visits, and immunization billing
- Work with Florida Medicaid, CHIP, and commercial insurance payers
- Follow up on denied or rejected claims and resubmit as needed
- Post payments and maintain accurate billing records
- Ensure compliance with payer requirements and billing regulations
AI System Development Support (30-40% of role)
Document current billing workflows, logic, and decision-making processesServe as subject matter expert for primary care billing operationsReview and validate AI-generated coding suggestions and billing outputsProvide feedback on system design from a biller's perspectiveHelp identify common billing scenarios and edge cases for system trainingTest and quality-check AI system functionalityRequired Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of hands-on pediatric medical billing / coding experienceStrong working knowledge of pediatric-specific billing codes and guidelinesProficiency with CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codingExperience with Florida Medicaid and commercial insurance billingFamiliarity with common pediatric EMR / billing systemsExcellent attention to detail and accuracyStrong communication skills to explain billing concepts to non-medical teamAbility to work independently and manage time effectivelyPreferred Qualifications
CPC (Certified Professional Coder) or CPB certificationExperience with immunization billing and VFC programsKnowledge of Bright Futures guidelinesExperience with denial management and appealsFamiliarity with value-based care or quality measuresInterest in healthcare technology and process improvementWhat Makes This Role Unique
