Software Development Kit Engineer

Purpose of Position

The SDK Engineer will become a subject matter expert on Gilbarco and Invenco payment systems' SDK and protocol interfaces to drive successful integration with customers, OEM developers, and third-party payment vendors.

This is a hybrid role located in Tampa, Florida or in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Key Responsibilities

Understand integration needs of customers, OEM developers, and third-party payment systems vendors, develop plans to address, and drive to completion.

Troubleshoot embedded software / hardware and system issues that arise in customer / partner development efforts. Includes deep technical analysis, replication of issues, and solution identification.

Develop, organize, and maintain high quality documentation, tutorials, and other content for customers and partners.

Collaborate with internal and external resources to analyze problems and contribute to solution identification, testing, and documentation.

Develop and deliver training classes and support to customers and partners.

Develop and modify example embedded C++ application software code to demonstrate use of product features and best practices.

Provide internal commercial team members (e.g. Product Management, Business Development, Sales) with updates and support to enable effective customer / partner communication and relationship management w.r.t issue investigation status and review of / alignment on solution plans.

Travel to customer and partner locations, up to 10%. Focus of the role is remote delivery of support and training to customers / partners. Some travel may be required to customer / partner sites or GVR locations (ex. NZ or the US), and the person filling the role should be able to accommodate up to 10%.

Develop and maintain processes and tools to support and automate SDK functions.

Enhance existing processes, tools, documentation, etc. through continuous improvement

Background and Skill

Required :

Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, related field, or equivalent industry experience

3+ years of software industry experience

Demonstrated ability to work directly with customers and development partners

Strong verbal and written communication skills, able to develop high quality documentation and deliver live training while tailoring communication to the appropriate level for the target audience

Proven ability to analyze and troubleshoot complex software issues

C++ or Java experience

Desired :

Working knowledge of Linux / Unix

Experience with payment systems and EMV

Experience with embedded software

Experience with socket based communication, TLS, and network configuration / troubleshooting

Python and / or Linux shell scripting experience

Software source control experience (e.g. Git or svn)
