Job Description

A health services organization in California is looking to add several new Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to their growing team. In this role, the DSP will be responsible for providing hands-on support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), helping them with daily living activities, personal care, and participation in community-based programs.

About the Opportunity :

  • Start Date : ASAP
  • Assignment Length : Ongoing
  • Shift : Monday to Friday
  • Hours : 8 : 30am to 3 : 30pm (on-duty meal break)

Responsibilities :

  • Assist individuals with toileting, hygiene, eating, mobility, and other daily living activities
  • Implement functional living skills based on each person's Individual Service Plan (ISP)
  • Engage participants in structured activities such as art, gardening, sensory play, and computer classes
  • Support communication goals using assistive devices and techniques
  • Assist with mobility programs and adaptive equipment
  • Maintain accurate documentation of behaviors, activities, and care
  • Participate in off-site outings and community integration
  • Follow infection control, safety, and emergency procedures
  • Collaborate with nursing and supervisory staff to ensure quality care

    • Qualifications :

  • High school Diploma / GED
  • First Aid certification
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfortable with hygiene-related responsibilities

    • Desired Skills :

  • 6+ months of experience working with individuals with Developmental and / or Physical Disabilities
  • Informal Caregiving experience (e.g., family caregivers, stay-at-home parents)
  • Ability to work cooperatively with a multidisciplinary team
