Description
We are seeking Mid-Level, Senior, or Expert Liaison Engineers to support our Portland, Oregon site. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive engineer who enjoys hands-on work and is eager to be on the factory floor, turning design into reality.
This fully onsite role involves working closely with production teams, requiring strong communication and collaboration skills to effectively represent engineering in a manufacturing environment.
Position Responsibilities
Analyze and resolve production non-conformances through root cause analysis and engineering disposition.
Apply engineering principles to solve product / process issues across the product lifecycle.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement product and process improvements.
Participate in design reviews and support Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
Represent engineering throughout the build, production, and post-production phases.
Ensure compliance with internal standards and quality assurance protocols.
Develop customer-facing documentation to support ongoing maintenance and safety.
Design and validate structural repairs and modifications, including static strength analysis.
Develop and implement non-destructive test procedures and standards.
Support accident investigations and participate in on-site repair teams.
Regularly work in a factory environment including stairs, noise, and exposure to chemicals.
Basic Qualifications (Required)
Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited (or equivalent) institution.
Expert Level : 14+ years of experience in structures, systems, design, or production engineering.
7+ years of experience with Engineering Material Review Board (MRB) processes.
Must be a U.S. Person per 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 (U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Experience)
Candidates with experience in the following areas will be highly valued :
Materials & Processing
Familiarity with steel, aluminum, titanium and their properties.
Knowledge of material forms (bar stock, forgings, castings) and post-machining processing.
Experience with heat treat, peening, plating, and finishing techniques.
Machining & Tolerances
Strong understanding of machining methods (broaching, honing, etc.).
Experience with GD&T (True position, parallel surfaces, etc.).
Familiarity with part tolerance stack-up and interpreting technical drawings.
Use of tools like Spatial Analyzer and metrology interpretation.
Gear & Shaft Systems
Knowledge of gear tables, spline profiles, runout, gear engagement and installation.
Understanding of bearing / shaft fit and gear pattern analysis.
Functional Test & Repair
Ability to diagnose performance impacts at the system or aircraft level.
Understanding of functional test parameters like RPM, torque, clearance.
Familiar with general repair techniques : Heli-Coils, bushings, blending, corrosion protection.
Typical Education & Experience
Expert Level : Bachelor's degree + 14+ years of experience OR
Master's degree + 12+ years of experience OR
Work Schedule & Shift Details
Full-Time , Onsite
May rotate between 1st, 2nd, or 3rd shifts , including weekends .
Overtime (OT) expected; Double OT (DOT) possible as needed.
This role does not follow a 9x80 schedule .
Start / End times : To be confirmed with the manager.
