ColonialWebb is seeking experienced Welder / Fitter (candidate experienced in both areas) to join our team in Richmond. As a Welder / Fitter, you will lay out, fabricate, assemble, install and weld piping systems, fixtures, and equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, and industrial processing systems.

A day in the life :
Weld pipes / metals with various techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and StickDetermine required equipment and welding method, applying knowledge of metallurgy, geometry, and welding techniquesSelect type and size of pipe and related materials per job specificationsPlans sequence of installation to avoid obstructions and activities of other construction workersAssemble and install a variety of metal pipe and pipe fittings, including those made of carbon steel and stainless steelSecure pipes to structure with clamps, brackets, and hangers, using hand toolsTest piping systems for leaks by increasing pressure in pipes and observing gauges attached to pipes for indication of leaksRemove slag and rough spots with a portable grinder, file, or scraperYou should have :
Ability to obtain AWS 6G certification through ColonialWebbExperience with MIG, TIG, and Stick welding methodsExperience with cutting and assembling pipeKnowledge of properties in various welding rods and fluxes used in welding metalKnowledge of OSHA safety regulationsAbility to work from drawings, submittals and specifications is preferredKnowledge of basic construction / shop math (addition, subtraction, division, fraction, and multiplication)
