Job Title : Junior Harness Design Engineer Job Location : Sterling Heights Michigan 48310 Onsite Requirements : Degreed Electrical Engineer Hands-On Wiring / Harness Design Experience Capital Harness (CHS) Experience - or Ability to Learn Quickly Job Description : Ideally looking for Degreed Electrical Engineers, Harness experience with CAD tools background (MG Capital Harness would be great, but Creo / UG / Solidworks, etc is acceptable as well). Not a CAD Designer role but needs to understand 3D CAD modeling. Looking for conceptual electrical engineering knowledge, BOMs and part selection experience. Please reference the previous hired Harness Design Engineering candidates. Responsibilities : Designing electrical wiring harnesses to include component selection for connectors, backshells, sleeving, braiding, sealants, boots, transitions, etc. Determining harness layout through vehicle and branch points for multi-branch harnesses. Designing to environmental requirements for temperature, shock, vibration, submergence and exposure to harsh chemicals. Designing harnesses in Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, working specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology. Working with CAD draftsman to route harnesses in 3D CAD tools (Pro-E and / or NX). Working with CAD draftsman to develop released drawings for harnesses, electrical installations, wiring diagrams, etc. Working with systems engineers to define whole vehicle pin-level interconnect. Working with physical architects to define harness routing channels, space claims. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications : Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with a minimum of 1 year of relevant post graduate work. Ability to balance cost / schedule / technical priorities. Occasional overtime and weekend hours may be required to complete critical tasks. Experience with Microsoft Visio desirable. Experience with Capital Harness System (CHS) (aka Mentor Graphics) software, specifically in Harness XC, Capital Logic and Capital Topology is desirable. Experience with Pro-E Creo desirable. Experience with NX desirable. Basic proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite. Must have strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with interdisciplinary teams. Strong multi-tasking skills. Strong record keeping skills. Must be able to obtain a security clearance if necessary.
