Commercial Banking Intern

Internship Opportunity

As an intern, this person will learn the fundamentals of underwriting commercial / business loans. This person will engage in commercial banking basics by analyzing smaller commercial credits, along with credit administration. This position will include exposure to Business Solutions / Cash Management and Wealth Management Services.

This person should have a minimum of three years of business-related classes in a higher learning setting or equivalent. Being detail oriented and having excellent communication and customer service skills are essential. This person should be self-motivated with an eagerness to learn all aspects of Commercial Banking.

Principal Responsibilities :

• Participate in interviewing loan applicants, collect, and analyze financial and related data to formulate proposals for existing and prospective clients.
• Observe meeting with loan customers
• List and describe various loan types and products
• Compile and prepare proper underwriting information
• Introduction to credit worthiness and cash flow by analyzing credit information and referring to policy and guidelines
• View loan servicing and closing
• Assist with analyzing and risk rating credit lines requiring Loan Committee review. The analysis must be consistent with the findings of the appropriate regulatory agencies.
• Gain knowledge of banking products and services. Develop and maintain effective working relationships throughout First Bank & Trust to promote cross-selling of products and services.
• Utilize banking systems and observe how they integrate into business processes.
• Gain skills related to professionalism, financial analysis, decision-making, customer service and communication.
• Complete special projects as assigned.
• Attend loan meetings as directed and participate in decisions that affect ongoing and future operations of the department.
• Maintain confidentiality, integrity, and honesty, especially in dealing with customer information.
• Act in accordance with FBT policies and procedures as set forth in the employee handbook.
• Adhere to compliance procedures and participate in required compliance training and all meetings deemed appropriate by supervisor.

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $20.33 and $26.42. This range is a good faith estimate for the position. The actual compensation offered to a candidate may differ based on various factors, including the individual's relevant experience, training, skills, work location, and other considerations. For those in eligible roles, we offer incentive compensation based on individual performance.
