Retention & Email Marketing Specialist
Our client is a rapidly growing digital brand focused on helping direct-to-consumer companies scale through data-driven growth strategies. They specialize in full-funnel execution, integrating media, content, conversion optimization, and retention to drive sustainable revenue. As they continue to expand their reach, they are seeking an experienced Retention & Email Marketing Specialist with strong Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) expertiseparticularly in the food and beverage sectorto deepen customer engagement, increase lifetime value, and build scalable retention-focused programs.
The Expert Retention / Email Specialist will be responsible for developing and executing lifecycle marketing strategies across email, SMS, and loyalty channels. This role requires a consumer-obsessed marketer who understands CPG purchase behavior, repeat-buy patterns, and personalized retention tactics that convert customers into loyal fans.
Key responsibilities include :
- Owning the full lifecycle marketing strategy across email, SMS, and retention channels, with a focus on CPG consumer behavior and repeat purchase cycles.
- Building automated flows and segmentation strategies (welcome, replenishment, win-back, post-purchase, loyalty) designed to maximize LTV and retention.
- Developing and executing weekly campaigns, seasonal promotions, and product-focused communications aligned with brand and revenue goals.
- Analyzing customer cohorts, churn patterns, attribution data, and lifecycle metrics to identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborating with creative teams to craft high-converting messaging, design assets, and product storytelling tailored to CPG food & beverage audiences.
- Conducting ongoing A / B testing on subject lines, send times, creative formats, and segmentation for continual performance improvement.
- Managing email / SMS hygiene, deliverability, and compliance to ensure strong inbox performance.
- Working cross-functionally with product, e-commerce, and customer experience to align retention initiatives with broader business goals.
- Building retention dashboards and reports to track KPIs such as repeat rate, LTV, churn, AOV, and email / SMS revenue contribution.
Qualifications include :
35+ years of hands-on retention and lifecycle marketing experience, primarily within CPG (food & beverage strongly preferred).Deep expertise with Klaviyo, Iterable, Braze, or similar email / SMS automation platforms.Proven experience scaling LTV, reducing churn, and growing retention revenue for DTC or CPG brands.Strong understanding of segmentation, flows, customer journeys, and behavioral triggers in the CPG space.Exceptional copywriting and creative direction skills tailored to food & beverage consumer psychology.Highly analytical with experience in cohort analysis, RFM segmentation, and retention forecasting.Strong communication and collaboration skills across marketing, creative, operations, and leadership teams.Preferred :
Experience with Shopify, subscription models, or replenishment-based CPG brands.Knowledge of loyalty program strategy and CRM integrations.Familiarity with CRO best practices and onsite personalization tools.
