About The Position

Must-Have :

• Experience reading basic telemetry strips
• Experience with general and orthopedic surgical patients
• Experience with CVA and TIA patients

Description :

Unit includes telemetry with surgical and neuro patients.

The unit has 48 beds divided into two sections.

Staffing ratios are approximately 1 : 5.

Common diagnoses include COVID, respiratory issues, gastrointestinal issues, diabetes, TIA, CVA, as well as general, orthopedic, and spinal surgical patients.

Registered Nurses will interpret telemetry strips and sign off at least once per shift.

Monitor techs read and post telemetry strips remotely.

Charge nurses do not take patient assignments.

Nurse aides are present on the unit with a ratio of 1 : 10-15.

Equipment includes BiPAP, CPAP, high flow oxygen, and some breathing treatments.

Shifts are 12 hours from 7 : 00 PM to 7 : 30 AM with a 30-minute unpaid lunch.

Schedules are created for a four-week period using self-scheduling, which is finalized by management.

There is a requirement to work two weekends within a four-week schedule.

For holidays, a preference is for two days and one evening or two evenings and one day during Christmas, New Year’s, and Thanksgiving.

There are floating requirements to a different campus or possible PCU if qualified.

Scrub color is navy blue.

Charting is done using Cerner.
