Overview
Brookings is a nonprofit public policy organization based in Washington, DC, whose mission is to conduct in-depth research that leads to new ideas for solving problems facing society at local, national and global levels. The HR department delivers high-quality HR services and ensures the recruitment, development, recognition and retention of a diverse, high-performing workforce. The Director, HR Systems oversees all aspects of HR systems and is responsible for delivering best-in-class HR systems support to the institution's research programs and business units.
Responsibilities
- Lead the HR systems team and oversee day-to-day operations of Workday HCM, Payroll, Absence, Time-Tracking, ICIMS, SharePoint and related third-party integrations.
- Develop and execute the HR systems roadmap, aligning with institutional priorities.
- Serve as subject-matter expert and partner with internal stakeholders to maintain and optimize HR systems and integrations.
- Champion user adoption by developing training, documentation and system communications.
- Lead the development of HR analytics capabilities and deliver consistent, accurate reports, dashboards and executive summaries.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HR laws and data governance protocols through system design and reporting practices.
- Define and lead system and data strategy; guide full project lifecycles for new system initiatives, including scoping, requirements, vendor selection, testing and change management.
- Manage the HR systems project pipeline and participate in cross-functional governance efforts.
- Supervise and support HR Systems staff, including performance management, coaching and workload oversight.
- Build strong relationships across HR, Finance, Technology and program areas to support system effectiveness and strategic alignment.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and at least 10 years of progressive HCM system administration and data management experience (e.g., Workday, Oracle, PeopleSoft).Minimum 5 years of management / supervisory experience and 3 years of Workday experience required.Strong preference for candidates with large-enterprise Workday implementation or administration experience; Workday, CCP, CEBS or other relevant certifications preferred.Expert proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).Excellent project management skills, executive presence and ability to engage all levels of the organization.Ability to audit data, analyze and develop solutions.Adaptive, upbeat, team player with strong communication and presentation skills.Working knowledge of regulatory and governing standards for compensation, payroll, benefits, FMLA, workers' compensation.Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.Benefits
