The Inventory & Returns Manager
The Inventory & Returns Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory control activities and the timely processing of returns within the distribution center. This role ensures inventory accuracy is maintained to meet company targets and that returns are handled efficiently to support customer satisfaction.
Key responsibilities include managing inventory audit program, conducting root cause analysis, and monitoring performance metrics. This manager will drive continuous improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and customer experience.
Main Job Duties
Inventory Control
- Manages the flow, processes, and accuracy of inventory within the distribution center, striving for 98.5%+ inventory accuracy.
- Analyze inventory data to drive informed decision-making and continuous improvement and overall inventory optimization.
- Lead the cycle count program and inventory audit processes to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Own the RCCA program to identify inventory failures and implement preventative measures.
- Partner with inbound, wire, and outbound operations teams to minimize inventory discrepancies.
- Collaborate with BU partners (Branches, Hubs, Finance, Sales) to support inventory initiatives.
Returns
Oversee the accurate processing of all returns, exchanges, and credits in accordance with Capital Electric policies and proceduresDevelop, implement, and monitor all key functions related to returned merchandise and ensure transactions are processed accurately and timely.Act as the primary point of contact for escalated return inquiries or complaints from customers, ensuring prompt resolution and customer satisfaction.Ensure accurate inventory control by tracking returned merchandise and updating systems to reflect inventory levels.Monitor Key Metrics such as return rates, processing time, and recovery rates.Prepare and maintain detailed reports on return metrics, including volume, reason codes, and processing times.Analyze return data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for process improvement.Partner with senior leadership and develop strategies to minimize returns and enhance the returns process to improve overall efficiency and customer satisfaction.Work closely with other branches to ensure smooth returns operations.Coordinate special projects with various business units.Leadership
Directly manage hourly inventory and Returns employees.Ensure compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards in all processes.Monitor team performance, providing coaching, training, and development to build a high-performing, agile team.Conduct performance reviews and assist in hiring and onboarding new employees.Education / Experience
A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus in inventory optimization, project management, logistics or transportation or equivalent education and experience.Three to five years' experience in a distribution or manufacturing environment directing Inventory Control and Logistics.Experience with process improvement methodologies (lean, six sigma, etc.)Skills / Knowledge / Abilities :
Demonstrated understanding of safety standards and MHE operations.Strong leadership skills with experience in supervising and developing teams.Excellent communication skills with all levels within the organization.Ability to plan, prioritize, and execute multiple projects with independent judgment.Proven ability to manage multiple functional areas in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team-based environment. Must foster open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel (data analysis, reporting, and automation).Must have knowledge and experience with various logistics and distribution management systems, including Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and SAP.
